Family mediation regulation

The Family Mediation Council (FMC) sets the Code of Practice and Standards that professional family mediators must follow. All our mediators are registered with the FMC.

The Family Mediation Standards Board (FMSB) enforces the Code of Practice and Professional Standards among Family Mediators. All our mediators are subject to FMSB oversight.

All FMC family mediators must belong to a Professional Membership Organisation. These organisations provide family mediators with training and development, and uphold the FMC Code of Practice. All our mediators belong to the following: FMA, College of Mediators, Resolution.

Our organisation

Online Mediation was founded in 2021 by family mediators who wanted to specialise in supporting clients remotely. All our mediators believe mediation can be effectively and affordably delivered online.

Amanda Brighton supports the effective running of Online Mediation. Amanda has over 25 years’ experience in administration and customer service roles. Through her work with a range of family mediation providers, Amanda has a broad knowledge of how family mediation works. She has a keen passion for providing great customer service.

Our mediators are registered and authorised to deliver mediation services under the Family Mediation Voucher Scheme. This scheme is funded by the Ministry of Justice, and provides £500 of non-means tested credit to those mediating about arrangements for children. More information here.

Our charity of the year for 2025 is Advice Now, who will receive over £1,000 to support their work. Their free legal guides cover a range of relevant topics on family separation and divorce and are listed here.

All our mediators welcome feedback on what has gone well and what can be improved. We commit to doing all we can to put things right, and our Complaints Policy is industry-leading. To date, we have resolved over 95% of issues raised at first or second stage.
